NEED HELP Bird Of Prey IN TOWN!!! :D
19/10/2009 17:54:45 by Sean

Ok, so yesterday i pulled up to my house and saw some flapping around in the road. At first i thought it was something injured but when i got closer i saw it was some kind of raptor that had just caught a sparrow. We got very close, maybe 2 meters away in the car and it only flew off when i tried to get out and get a camera.

So the description. It had a white belly with black flecks and a brown/red-ish top side and very yellow claws. Cant remember the head though :S Im pretty sure it wasnt a kestrel as i'd know if i saw that. Im thinking Sparrow Hawk or something? I live in Stockport which is a very urbanised area of Gtr Manchester, although there is a small coppice of trees just behind our neighbours opposite.

Any help would be appreciated guys.

Cheers, Sean
