A recent event, widely reported in the media, shows the gulf between "Bird-lovers",and "Birdwatchers".(i hate to be a Birdwatcher,i prefer Ornithologist).
A woman reported a Snow Bunting in her garden. This lady claimed to have been birding for 25 years.
The Snow Bunting turned out to be a leucistic(look it up..)Chaffinch!
Now,any true birder would know INSTANTLY that a Chaffinch looks nothing like a Snow Bunting, regardless of plumage aberations.(i dont actually think a Snow Bunting has been recorded as a garden bird, that alone would make you suspicious)Whereas"Bird-lovers" think that being in the RSPB,makes you Attenborough.
