Colourful male, with pinkish breast, blue-grey crown and red-brown mantle. Female and juvenile duller grey-brown in colour with pale breast. Both sexes easily identified by striking double white wing bars, especially in flight. Common throughout Britain the whole year round in woods, gardens and parks.
