Mistle Thrush
Turdus viscivorus
Size: 26-29cm
UK Status: common resident breader / common winter visitor

 Generally greyer and somewhat larger than Song Thrush. Similar plumage with grey-brown head and back, cream underparts with rounder speckles than Song Thrush, and white underwing sometimes apparent in flight. White tail edges not always visible. Flight consists of interrupted wing beats without distinct undulation, similar to Fieldfare. Resident in Britain and south Europe, summer visitor to northern areas. Prefers open woodland, parkland and areas with scattered trees and scrub.
