Medium-sized compact thrush. Warm brown upperparts and buffy-white chest speckled with black spots. Lacks face markings of Redwing; orange-buff underwing, smaller size and lack of white tail-edges distinguish from Mistle Thrush. Fairly solitary, usually found in parks, rich woodlands, and increasingly less frequently in gardens. Summer visitor to northern Europe, winters in the south, resident in Britain and central Europe.
